Danno is coerced by a dirty former cop to commit murder? Where Gracie is concerned, Danno will do almost anything. Fortunately, he fakes shootings well.

(Don't mess with Chin Ho — especially wearing Kevlar and packing. Photo: Norman Shapiro/CBS).

Let's look at the filming locations:

  • Lovely starting footage of Molokai's north shore, including the Kalaupapa Peninsula.
  • Quick shot of bay-lined Hawaii Kai.
  • Footracing sequence along the Koko Crater Tracks. Once again, that's Koko Crater, not Koko Head — Koko Head is the nearby mountain next to the ocean that flanks Hanauma Bay.
  • Quick shot of everyone's favorite tropical metropolis: Honolulu.
  • Honolulu International Airport, with the actual Hawaiian Airlines CEO Mark Dunkerley doing a guest shot.
  • And we're back at Aliiolani Hale, aka Five-0 headquarters.
  • Quick shot of Aloha Tower in downtown Honolulu.
  • Hard to say which sky-high room hosted the high-stakes poker game, but let's try The Plaza Club. Entertaining all counteroffers.
  • Not sure which location filled in for the "Ali Moni Hotel."
  • Quick shot of Kahala over the ocean leading to ... could be a tony Kahala home, could be a tony Kailua home.
  • Gracie is abducted from what McGarrett says is the Pacific Club downtown, but it looks like the tennis courts at Punahou School.
  • The kidnapper's car with Gracie in it is parked behind the old Advertiser building.
  • Danno drives south on South Street, which is a one-way street heading north. Always wanted to do that.
  • Quick shot of Duke Kahanamoku lagoon in Waikiki.
  • Danno meets the greasy kidnapper at the entrance to Diamond Head Crater, looking east toward Koko Head.
  • Quick shot of the King Kamehameha statue downtown.
  • Overhead shot of Ala Moana Beach Park, followed by the shoot out at Magic Island.
  • Several quick shots of Waikiki at night.

The Quotable Danno

Not much in the way of quotes, thanks to the heaviness of the episode, but one nice one:

  • "I actually want to send my kid to college one day." — joking about whether to jump in on a $2,000-buy-in poker game

The Clip

Danno squares off, even when he's in a corner.
