Happy New Year, scene spotters! "Hawaii Five-0" returns with another mystery on the team's hands: A teen girl murdered in a professional hit. Meanwhile, Joe White is being pursued by Honolulu police and the local yakuza over the disappearance of Hiro Noshimuri. (Photo: Norman Shapiro/CBS).

Let's look at the filming locations:

  • Quick shots of Waikiki and Aloha Tower.
  • The beach party is at Sand Island State Recreation Area.
  • Shots of Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon and the Rainbow Tower at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
  • Joe White returns from Japan — again, dum dum dah! — at Honolulu International Airport.
  • Quick overhead shot of Nuuanu Valley.
  • Fly-bys of Diamond Head Crater and the Ala Wai Canal, ending at the Hawaii Medical Center.
  • The "Ala Moana Academy" is actually McKinley High School in Honolulu.
  • Hello Aliiolani Hale, seat of the Hawaii State Supreme Court and in this context known as Five-0 headquarters.
  • Danno and Lori Weston pull over the principal in Kakaako by the UH Medical School.
  • The Honolulu Police Department was played by the Territorial Building (outside) and the old Advertiser building (inside).
  • Aerials of Waikiki, the Kahala Hotel and the Diamond Head Lighthouse, taken from the ocean.
  • Danno and McGarrett appear to be interrogating Juror #7 at Sandy Beach.

Looking forward: The mystery with Joe White and Hiro Noshimuri deepens. He says he helped Hiro fake his own death. Strange, since he's missing. More in a couple of weeks.

The Quotable Danno

  • "No, but I did chase all the cheerleaders." — to Lori Weston, who said "You impress me as a jock."
  • You can get a layer and I can bounce your head off a cement wall."
  • Good news is you're alive. Bad news is you're under arrest."
