Next week's episode "Hoapono" is filmed in large part on the Battleship Missouri at Pearl Harbor, where a bad guy –– or not, we'll have to wait and see –– takes hostages. It's also where McGarrett's grandfather served and died during World War II. And it would fulfill the wish of Scene Spotter Gloria Long, who posted:
"I would like to see more of Pearl Harbor and have them add some sort of tribute to that besides his grandfather was there."
3DHawaii has built out all the major monuments at Pearl Harbor in 3D, including the Arizona Memorial, the USS Missouri, the attack sub USS Bowfin and the Pacific Aviation Museum. You can book a tour here »
As for other sites seen in the peek, hard to say. It looks as though our bad guy is making an escape over fencing at military housing, which may explain the USS Missouri connection. It looks like it might be housing at Marine Corps Base Hawaii on Mokapu Peninsula by Kaneohe Bay. Or possibly the Army residences next to Salt Lake on Aliamanu Drive.
The airfield was very hard to place: Scene was too quick. Maybe Hickam AFB? It didn't look like Honolulu International Airport, but it's possible it was on a smaller runway there. Anyone else spot some spots?
Meanwhile, next week marks the appearance of local girl Kelly Hu, right, a Kamehameha Schools graduate.
