Scene Spotting Sneak: Poipu

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

We've got a female killer and the attempted assassination of a foreign dignitary in the next episode, oddly named "Poipu," which is a lovely beach and resort area on Kauai's south shore. Have a look »

As for locations, I'd be interested to know where that hotel with all the red detail in the corridor is. Anyone?

Neil Jacobs/CBS

I'm thinking the SUV exploded out by Campbell Industrial Park on the Leeward side. It looks like McDanno is running out of Aloha Tower Marketplace. The C-17 transporting the foreign dignitary, General Pak, is at Hickam Airfield, above.

And though it's not shown in the clip, since this is the episode with General Pak, we'll have a scene next to the State Capitol building (see pics below) –– I caught them filming there a few weeks ago staging a protest against this general. I assume they're still going to use the scene, but you never know what might get cut.

Interview with Daniel Dae Kim

Of the cast's main stars, you could say Daniel Dae Kim is the most "local." He's been here since "Lost" started filming seven years ago, and started a restaurant –– The Counter, Hawaii's first of the popular Mainland chain, located at Kahala Mall –– with local restauranteur d.k Kodama. Here's an interview he did with the local KGMB newscast that aired after Monday's episode, featuring his take on living in the Islands, among other things.
