Kids get in on the Pro Bowl action

Saturday, January 29, 2011

The Pro Bowl Youth Football and Cheerleading Clinic was held this morning at Kapiolani Park under bright skies with hundreds of bright faces in attendance. NFL cheerleaders and players kept them starry-eyed as they were led through several drills. The high energy event had its own DJ — even the parents were bouncing on the sidelines.

This is one of many community events the NFL holds during the week leading up to the big game, but it is undoubtedly the cutest. Working in conjunction with the Honolulu Boys and Girls Club and the Honolulu YMCA, kids from all over the island come to learn some football basics and get their shirts signed by the pros — for free.

Tonight is the big Pro Bowl block party in Waikiki along Kalakaua Avenue, congregating around the Royal Hawaiian Center. The Pro Bowl kicks off tomorrow at 2 p.m. See you there!
