Dane Cook drops in as Danno's "little" brother with a $58 million
cash-flow problem, and a recently paroled bomber is killing the kids of
the judges, officers and lawyers who separated him from his kid. It's a
lot to pack into one episode, but fear not — 'Five-0' has got this.
Let's fly:
Kualoa Ranch.
The "Kawailoa" wilderness is Kualoa Ranch, playing its tried and true role as all things green on Oahu — in this case the site of our first killing, a targeted bomb attack on ziplining girl. Although that first tree-covered finger of rock didn't look like anything off the coast of Oahu. If I were to guess, I'd say the rocky area just off Kalaupapa Peninsula on Molokai — more stock footage? Weigh in with your thoughts!
Flash to the Hilton Hawaiian Village, where we meet Uncle Matty (Dane Cook) staying in a sweet suite; he's there to reconnect with family (but on the down low, hopefully hit the reset button on a financial scam for which the feds are on his tail).
Quick shots of Waikiki leading to Aliiolani Hale where the Five-0 unit tries to whittle down the suspects who hit the profile of potential bombers of Hawaii's justice system, only to turn up a panoply of perps. Kono (Grace Park) is tasked with narrowing the list while McDanno grind on surf and turf with the reunited family at the Hau Tree Bar at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Kono helps narrow the profile with the help of a cop while strolling through the courtyard of the U.S. Post Office Building, which sends McDanno out to Wahiawa (although that seemed awfully big for an apartment building out there; maybe along the H-2 next to Scofield Barracks?). But while our duo bust in on a couple busting a move, our bomber strikes again — at Kewalo Harbor, above.
Clues from the ground there took them to a fishing gear shop called Hobbietat (I wasn't familiar with it, but Google places it in Kaimuki off Waialae Ave.) where they got more details on our perp, an unsuccessful "paniolo," or local-style cowboy — the clerk places him as a Mainlander. Meanwhile, Matt goes to a swank home in Kahala to start laundering drug money. Not the best career move when your brother's in Five-0, man.
Quick shots of biking with surfboards on the North Shore, transitioning to Matt and Grace playing in the Hilton's Grand Lagoon, above, while Rachel admonishes Danno about protecting his brother.
Quick shot overhead of Lanikai, but we zoom well up the Windward coast to a coastal home with a view of Mokapu Peninsula in the background. After a convo with the perp's ex, Five-0 knows who their man is — and though he's not in the motel where they've honed in on him, they've discovered his next target, the son of his public defender.
The son's school appeared to be Manoa Elementary — counter offers? — although they called it Piikoi Elementary (a street in Honolulu, but not a school), where they corner the perp in his light SUV. All is well, except Danno's little brother is now working for Pablo Escobar's family full time to cover his Ponzi scheme back home. He makes a getaway on the tarmac (Honolulu Airport private terminal) in a nicely written scene below.
Something tells me Dane Cook will be back — maybe as consigliere to Wo Fat? See you again soon, Spotters!
